High School Life

Achievers

We are one. We won because we have unity. We won because we work as a team. We won because we never give up. We are one. We are peOPLE.

It all started in the school year 2013-2014. We join different contests. Sometimes we lose. Sometimes we won. But we know how to accept failures.

But this school year, 2015-2016, we knew this is our year. We received a lot of achievements. We have that confidence as a team. We work as a team. We dreamt as a team.

All this years that we’ve been through, it takes time to be this strong. It takes time to have this relationship stronger. 3 years of friendship. 3 years of happiness. 3 years to keep this relationship stronger. But it’s not the end. There will be more years to come and to prove that we, peOPLE, never give up and will always do the best and still be achievers.

“Best friends are hard to find, harder to leave, and impossible to forget.” – Author Unknown

My best friends. My strength.

They begin to be the greatest part of my high school life. It all started during school year 2013-2014. We were in grade 7 that time. I know no one. I wasn’t closed with anyone. But I know that it takes time before I get to know everyone.

Days. Months. Years.

I found my true friends. My best friends which never leave me. My best friends who understands my mood swing. My best friends who understand my craziness. My best friends who were always there for me whenever I need them.

Lessons 101

I think you accidentally learn things in high school that turn out to be life lessons when you are able to step back a bit and study them in more depth.” ─Megan Fox

I have learned a lot of lessons when I step in being a high school student.

  1. Have confidence

Free yourself from being too shy. Get out of your weakness. Face the people and speak for your own.

  1. Enjoy moments

During your happiest moments, enjoy it because it may not happen the second time around.

  1. Know your limits

Have fun but never forget your limitations.

  1. Respect

Show respect to your teachers, to your classmates and to your schoolmates.

  1. Never give up

When life shows you how hard it is, show life what you can do.

  1. Time Management

If you were given lots of homework, do it now. Never get distracted. Because once you get distracted, your time will be wasted.

  1. Work hard

If you think you can’t do it, motivate yourself. Work hard on it. Just do your best and for sure God will to the rest.

And lastly,

  1. Break some rules

It’s not really bad to break some rules because sometimes it leads you to more exciting and more fabulous works.

Well, I’m not saying that you need to have this or to do this. These are just some examples of how my high school life go through.

Priority? Option.

If books can talk right now, it would actually say to me, “What am I to you? A priority? Or an option?”

In our generation, internet becomes the priority, and books become the option. Simply because in the internet, it’s just one search away. Unlike in books, you need to find a lot of books in order to find more information.

I like to read some books, but when it comes in doing assignments, sometimes I prefer using the internet. But, there are times you just copy and paste everything without reading it. Be careful copying and pasting everything because not all information posted on the internet has a reliable

In my high school life, it’s been an issue. What to use? Books or internet. For me, they’re both important in my high school. They are both useful. They are part of my high school life. They are both my priority and my option.

FOCUS

I think there should be a good balance between being a good student and being able to enjoy your high school life.” ─Vanessa Minnillo

High school was never just fun. As a student, you have limitations because you also need to study. You can focus on your studies while having fun. But, don’t focus on the fun side only; it might get you in to your worse or addiction.

I have been in situations like this. Easily get distracted by the things around me. That’s why when I do my homework, I used to put away my phone where it will not catch my attention. I worked alone in our room, so they will not mess up what I’m doing.

There are times when you get distracted by the things around you, like gadgets and playing around. It’s not bad to play, but there are extremity, because once your attention is drawn away, you can’t concentrate anymore to your studies.

Savor the Moment

“Hollywood is like high school, there are always going to be people who hate you and people who like you. When you’re a teen, [that’s tough] because you’re hyper-aware of what other people are gonna say and think. But neither defines who you are as a person or how successful you are unless you let them.” ─ Debbie Ryan

In high school, it could be your everything. You experience lots of new things. You get to know more about what you can do and also your weaknesses.

High school life is full of fun, dramas, and everything that is for sure will give you a lesson. And I can prove it. It’s fun to be in a school where you can see your crush. I got to see my crush since grade 6, he is Ian Gabriel Bautista. I have known him because of my sister. So, when I have already studied in Marcelo H. del Pilar National High School, I used to look for him during break time. Then, a program was held one time, we took the opportunity, I and my classmates took a picture with him. I was so happy that time, by and by, every time we will see him, we grab that chance to have a picture with him. You can say we’re a fan because he is handsome and talented.

Part of my high school life has also a little bit of drama. It started when I get teased by my classmates about me, being bow legged. I admit it because it’s true. I’m not ashamed about it. I was born with it. I live 13 years without thinking about it. Until I turned 14, that was the time when my classmates noticed it. They began to tease me behind my back. But, I know it was me. My friends also observed that they were talking about me. But as the time passed by, I accept it totally.

High school is really my everything. Because I learned a lot. I learned how to accept things. I learned how to face my problems. I learned how to be stronger.

Never Surrender

“High school will always be a drama zone. It takes the strongest and smartest to know how to avoid it.” – Mia Lugo

It’s unusual. It’s different. It’s hard.

When I went to high school, I never know what high school life really is. I got into a section which I know no one. I got into a section which has subjects that were not familiar to me. I got into a section which I have encountered tough subjects which I’m not really into it, like Journalism, Mandarin, and Research. It was really a hard time because it’s my first time to face these subjects.

And as the time goes by I get used to it. But there are times that I just cry myself out because I don’t know what to do anymore. I can’t get any help. But, I learned two things. First is, face your problems; deal with it. Second, never surrender.

I never give up. I try harder to learn things which are hard for me. I try harder to do my best and succeed in things that made me stressed. And here I am, still in the Special Program in Journalism (SPJ) class, trying harder to reach my dreams.

First Time

I was a strange kid in that, while most kids hate school and want to turn 18 or 21, I loved high school.” ─ Will Ferrell

During your high school years, you go through new and different things which are surely your first time.

For example, as of my experience, when I was in grade 8, I experience going on a sleepover to finish our school projects then rush in the morning because we have a 7 a.m. class. I enjoyed it because it was my first time, it’s fun indeed, you get to do your assigned tasks and bond with your group mates. Another experience is when I go home late just to finish our activities in school. My mother will get worried then get angry if she texted me but I forgot to reply. It was a first time also but don’t get me wrong. I don’t do that anymore. Because now I assure that I will text my mother that I will go home late, so she will not going to worry anymore.

One more thing is you should enjoy your high school life. Grades don’t really matter, what you learn is.

It’s been two years

It’s been two years…

Two years, same classmates, but different teachers. You never know what’s coming; being in the same section for two years is good because you’ll get to know more about each other.

For a long time it’s like your sisters and brothers. You treat each other like your own siblings. Being comfortable with them was a great feeling! You can share your secrets without hesitations. You can share your kilig moments with your best friends wherein they will ride on it.

They were like a family to you. Your second family, which is bigger and where you can bond together like you’re the only persons in that place.

Never miss those days to have fun and to cherish the moments you will have. Have some fun and create new memories. Because it’s not the days in your life you’ll remember, it’s the memories.

It all started with a “Hi”

June 2013, it was the first day of being a high school student. You will never know what is going to happen when you already step your foot entering the school. Finding your section and room became a hard time at first because you’re just new. Looking for a seat was tough because you really don’t know who would be your seatmate. Some of your classmates is new to you because sometimes your former classmates will not be your forever ‘buddy’.

But, do you know what’s the best?

You will meet new friends and teachers, and you will have new and memorable memories. Meeting everyone, a simple “Hi” would do; to start a new beginning; and to start a new friendship.

Welcome to your high school life! Have fun but don’t forget to study!
